Kristine and John posed an interesting challenge—they wanted a modern and minimalist, yet relaxed and semiformal invitation. However, they weren’t interested in trendy or even traditional wedding invitation themes.
I gave them a little quiz that helped them to narrow down the sort of aesthetic that appealed to them. It turned out they liked abstract, geometric lines and softness—which sounded contradictory yet came together in this Art Deco invitation suite. The hand lettered script font, blind embossing, and touches of aqua provide a modern but gentle contrast to the Art Deco style straight lines and angles. They were very happy with how it turned out, asking also for the design to be applied to the box packaging containing their wedding favors: an assortment of cookies from Eric Kayser.
