During the pandemic, KidsLIFE Foundation launched Balay Amuma, a playcare center in Cebu City that offers a safe space for underprivileged children. The center not only provides food and shelter, but also lessons in music appreciation, carpentry, cooking, arts and crafts, and gardening activities that encourage the children to enjoy their childhood while they learn practical skills and develop as persons.
I designed a logo for Balay Amuma that would be applied to any materials the client would need to quickly put together on their own. The icon is based on a stackable playhouse, forming a rainbow that shelters a happy child whose face is visible in the doorway. Bright colors identify Balay Amuma as a child-friendly place.
Because Balay Amuma is a program offered by the KidsLIFE Foundation, I had to relate the logo design to that of KidsLIFE’s by using a similar color palette, and a playful typeface. I also added KidsLIFE’s smiley face and secondary font to help tie everything together, creating a professional and polished look that would help Balay Amuma attract volunteers, investors, and donors.
